Don’t Sweat It!

Stressed about wedding planning? Don’t worry, you’re not alone! Anyone who’s had to plan a wedding can agree that at some point, things got a little stressful. Maybe planning events just isn’t your thing. Or maybe you adore the idea of planning, but just find yourself getting too overwhelmed. Either way, we have a few tricks to share with you to make things a little better!

  • Start with the Basics

One reason the wedding planning might be getting to you is that you forgot to start with the basics. Make sure before you spend hours searching for the perfect vendors you create a detailed budget for yourself. Find out how much you can spend on the event total. Then start creating a list of what is important to you and your fiancé. If the DJ or live band is a top priority, you might find yourself giving more of your budget to that category. On the other hand, reduce your spending on things that you could do without…or totally eliminate things that simply don’t matter to you. If you don’t take the time to really think about your budget and the things you want in your wedding day, you might be spending too much time with vendors that don’t even align with your budget.

  • Be Prepared

Another thing that causes wedding stress is the thought of the unknown. Just thinking about what could go wrong on your big day is enough to drive any bride crazy. That’s why it’s important to create a backup plan for yourself. For instance, connect with your venue and decide on what you would do in case of inclement weather. Being confident in that plan B can do a lot of good!

  • Enlist Some Help

Maybe you have a lot on your plate during this season of life. With work, family, friends and wedding planning, your calendar can get out of hand. Consider hiring help like a wedding planner to take some of the load off. You could also see if your maid of honor, other bridesmaids or family members are willing to pitch in.

  • Relax

After spending hours a week on planning, make sure to take a break! There is no harm in stepping back to give yourself some relaxation time. This might mean going out with friends, a spa day, or just a night in watching your favorite show. You could also use this time to go on a date with your fiancé…and talk about things other than catering menus and flowers!

While a lot of brides find planning a huge event like a wedding very stressful, we also know it can be a lot of fun! Remember that this is about you and your fiancé…and that at the end of it all, you’ll get to be with your best friend forever!
